500 Miles to Memphis.
You never know when you might hear the music of 500 Miles to Memphis. Maybe in a honky tonk in Tennessee. Maybe at a Rock show in North Carolina. Maybe at a Punk festival in their hometown of Cincinnati. Maybe in an acoustic format at the corner bar or coffeeshop. Or maybe on MTV’s Nitro Circus, soundtracking some extreme sport stunts. The band is comfortable in almost any setting, largely because their music — a mix of scrappy Country and scorching Rock & Roll — has a magnetic, wide appeal. The Hot Topic kids get juiced on the band’s adrenalized live shows, while fans of Classic Country can appreciate 500 Miles’ true, heartfelt take on vintage C&W. With Sunshine in a Shotglass, the group’s debut full-length, 500 Miles to Memphis introduced itself as a world-class Rock band with songs that are alternately shit-kicking and heartbreaking. From the fiddle-driven, broken-glass-inducing “All My Friends are Crazy” to the closing trilogy of “Let It Rain”/”Sunshine in a Shotglass”/”The Regret,” singer/songwriter Ryan Malott and his tight, rousing band concocted a true, complete album, full of plenty of soul and depth, but also lots of instantly memorable Pop hooks. Don’t believe me? Then just listen to Sunshine once or, better yet, get out to a show. 500 Miles to Memphis is one of the most promising young bands in North America right now. - Mike Breen, City Beat

JESSE SMITH and the HOLY GHOSTS
Hailing from the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Jesse Smith has lived the all too familiar "ups" and "downs" of the music business for the last 15 years. As a founding member of the seminal Christian metal-core band Zao, Jesse went on to sell hundreds of thousands of records, tour the world with some of the biggest names in metal, and influence the sound of countless major heavy acts.

Zao was praised in many circles as ground-breaking innovators but often times riddled with criticism and controversy. This gave way to years of addiction, self-indulgence, and self-loathing for Smith. "It was hard dealing with the pressures of that world," he recalls. "We were sometimes the hero but often times the villain. I didn't know how to deal with it and wasted a lot of my time medicating myself and trying to rationalize my actions." After leaving Zao in 2004, Jesse began his journey to recovery.

Jesse spent several years in counseling and therapy managing to get his life back on track. He began to find solace once again in the one thing that brought him true peace and happiness - making music. Smith spent the better part of 2012 writing and recording demos for what would become his latest work.

Spending the last year touring and working with various producers. The debut EP was recorded by longtime friend, Brandon Lozano of Cleveland Ohio’s Ragers. Mastered by Chris Keffer at magnetic north, Smith’s debut EP showcases a post-classic stoner rock sound and is a mixture of Jesse's wide range of influences. With extremely personal lyrics laid on a sonic landscape of unique vocal hooks, infectious grooves and intricate guitar work will leave listeners with an unexpected sound from Jesse Smith.

"Over the years I have struggled to find my niche as a songwriter," explains Jesse. "I'm a huge fan of heavy music, but I've always been into all types of stuff. When I began writing these songs, I just wrote from the heart, with no preconceived notions of what they would turn out to be."

Many a great lesson is learned through inner turmoil; Jesse came away from his struggle with personal demons with a new perspective on life, one that allowed him to open himself up to help and guidance from others. That same perspective brought his new music to a different level.

"It’s been an amazing experience creating music and art with so many dear friends, in the end Brandon and I work very well together. He really saw my vision and we just went for it. There was an incredible freedom in those sessions."

Joined by drummer Brandon Joy and bassist Klyph Boyd, Jesse Smith & The Holy Ghost is truly Smith's vision. Jesse has triumphed and failed publicly in his career only to return once again to stomp his boots and make you, most certainly, jump on the bandwagon with his songs of unabashed rock and roll redemption.
